ALPINE GUARD HEMA CUP 2026: SABER & SIDESWORD
With the love for saber and sidesword steadily growing across Switzerland, we’re excited to bring the community together for a fantastic weekend of fencing, learning, and good company in Zürich.
Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or just looking to test your skills in a friendly environment, everyone is welcome.
THE TOURNAMENTS (SATURDAY)
We are hosting two fully rated Hemagon events—saber and sidesword—packed into a single day of fencing. It’s a great opportunity to cross blades with fencers from all over and celebrate the growing historical fencing scene.
THE WORKSHOP (SUNDAY)
Giordano has designed a progressive curriculum applicable to any saber style. The session will start with lighter concepts, analyzing the principles behind direct and compound attacks, ripostes, and the execution of feints with an emphasis on tempo and distance. In the second half, the focus will shift to counterattacks, putting all the elements together to utilize „controtempo“ (counter-time) not just as a quick reaction, but as deliberate tactical planning.

Tournaments run on community power! We are looking for volunteers to help make the event a success. Whether you are an experienced referee or just want to help keep the pools running smoothly, we would greatly appreciate your support in the following roles: – Main Judges – Side Judges – Table Staff
REGISTRATION FEES
To keep things simple, tournament entry automatically includes access to Sunday’s workshop.
– One Tournament: 50 CHF (Includes the Giordano Moreni workshop) – Two Tournaments: 100 CHF (Includes the Giordano Moreni workshop) – Workshop Only: 25 CHF (No tournament entry)
